Calypso, Chutney, Reggae, Blues, Jazz, Soul, Pop and Classical musical styles are explored with a focus on understanding the many Caribbean cultures that influence the steel pan. We will also focus on the Panorama competition, which is one of the most advanced levels of steel pan performances. Students will explore the art of improvising while increasing their understanding of solo performances within the entire group.

This course is designed for students who have more than a basic level understanding of reading music. These students should have prior experience playing music and possess a desire to improve their skills playing the steel pan.

Students enrolled in this course perform in both the Winter and Spring concerts.
